How to obtain Notes and such hidden info
I’ve scoured the web, watching videos and reading blogs, and none of them could help me!
Y’all. I just wanted to pull an old recipe or two that I’d shared in my old Fb Notes section. Seriously. Just recipes.
But it’s the principle of the thing, ya know?! That my info is out there, but I can’t seem to obtain it… it even view it!
I figured it out!
Little ol’ me, all my my lonesome. So… here ya go. I’m about to make your day!
First… go to your pic and click for the drop down menu. Follow this: Settings & privacy>Settings>Your Facebook information
Ok now you’re in some dialog in the main box. Click on “Transfer a copy of your information.”
Here, you’re going to choose WHERE your files will be stored. Google Docs is an easy choice for me. You will then be prompted to give FACEBOOK access to your Google drive and docs.
I do not like that.
That feels super shady. But…I should be able to change that permission once my files are received.
Now click on “Choose what to transfer.” I’m changing the selection on Posts to None.
It will literally download ALL your Facebook posts! Eek!
Under Notes, I’m selecting all my notes. Then click the blue button under that, “Connect.” This will take you to your Google accounts to choose from (or whatever platform you’re using), and select that account. (I had to double click here.) You have to then give Facebook all the permissions, unfortunately, for this to work.
Then you’re in! Click “Start transfer.” And you’ll see it happening.
Tricky part for some in Google…. scroll down on your main Google Drive until you see “Transferred Docs 2023…” and there it will be! One of my files came across with all the info right there in the doc.
Here’s what tripped me up…
My recipe I was looking for? It was a link. When I clicked that link, it took me to the Fb file. Hmmmm. So Fb has it but it doesn’t? Whatever! I got my info and printed right from my phone. I could have taken a screen shot, but as I was at home it was just as easy to print!
Just for kicks and grins… here’s my elusive “recipe!”
Take charge! 😉 You CAN do it.
